Well ladies it seems Melbourne is well and truly under the Spring Racing Carnival spell with headpieces of every variety, amazing fashions, matching accessories and fabulous shoes around every corner.

From roughie winners, to show stopping weather and spectacular fashion firsts, so far the carnival has proven to be entertaining and unpredictable beyond its weight in prize money.

Having been along to three of the major meets so far and after closely tracking this seasons race fashions through the media, I have picked up on some key trend alerts I couldn’t keep to myself any longer.

Once upon a time it seemed a classic black stiletto was the guaranteed fashion show stopper, as you stood in the spot light, heel deep in the soft ground underfoot. I am excited to report while we still welcome our classic shoe designs we are seeing plenty of diversity too, with wedges and sturdy blocks heels accompanying many ladies through the gates.

A BIT MORE THAN CLASSIC BLACK AND WHITE
There is still a strong black and white fashion presence, but contemporary cuts and a brilliant mix of materials, textures and structured accessories turn the classic idea of ebony and ivory into unique style statements.

BOLD COLOURS AND PATTERNS
Amazing colour incorporated into strong, dynamic patterns or soft floral themes can’t help but make you stand out from the crowd as you exhibit freshness and the initiative to start a trend all of your own.

This season a sea of neutral tones have rushed onto the race track with nude and flesh hues popping up everywhere. The beauty of this trend is your ability to easily make a fashion statement by simply introducing one burst of colour through an amazing pair of wedges and matching clutch.

Fresh, bright colours and structured designs are powerful fashion weapons that will have heads turning your way all day! Tangerines, Aquas, Citrus Yellows and Purples, are softened with feminine embellishments such as lace panelling, floral trims or intricate bead work and grounded with stunning yet simple black pumps underfoot.
